Antibodies are used extensively in the identification of bacteria and virus. Microtek has developed an array of polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies against fish immunoglobulin and fish pathogens, both with their advantages. Polyclonal antibodies recognize several antigens allowing a high level of sensitivity. On the other hand, monoclonal antibodies are specific to a single epitope of a pathogen resulting in a very high level of specificity that can be exploited to differentiate between different strains and isolates of a pathogen. Microtek also has latex bead absorbed antibodies excellent for quick agglutination assays.
Microtek's antibodies are recommended for use in a wide variety of immunological procedures, including fluorescent microscopy (IFAT), enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), Western blots, serum agglutination assays, and dot blots. Each antibody lot is supplied with a data sheet outlining appropriate applications, specificities, and guidelines for recommended use.
